The chairman who was silent for a while on the issue; has spoken up, insisting President Mahama and his brother Ibrahim Mahama, attempted to bribe him to damage the reputation of the party’s Presidential Candidate.

Bugri Naabu has said that Mahama indeed, attempted to bribe him with millions of cedis and cars, but he turned them down. Mr. Naabu confirmed this at his private Fuo residence in Tamale; where he received some regional executives of the All Peoples’ Congress (APC), who have declared their unflinching support for Nana Addo.

During the interaction, Mr. Naabu boasted he cannot be bribed with cars and money; because he was already a wealthy man who had expensive cars, at a time that President Mahama was a secondary school student. Bugri said he would have collected the said bribes, if he had need for them.

The NPP on Tuesday, alleged at a news conference in Accra, that President Mahama and his brother Ibrahim Mahama, attempted to bribe Mr Bugri Naabu to resign from the NPP, in order to damage Nana Addo “beyond electability”.

According to Nana Addo’s Spokesperson Hamid Mustapha, who spoke at the conference, Mr Bugri Naabu was invited by the President and his brother on October 28, 2016. Showing documents to back his claims, he said that at the meeting; President Mahama handed cash of GHC500,000 to Mr. Bugri and promised additional GHC3.3 million, a V6 Mitsubishi vehicle and a brand new V8 Land cruiser, to tarnish Akufo-Addo’s image.

The NDC has since rubbished the allegations, describing it as negative propaganda aimed at causing disaffection for President Mahama, ahead of the coming elections.
