Truck drivers were also warned to observe the height restrictions when using the Interchange. Finally, traders were adviced to transact their businesses only at authorised spots.

The ministry therefore warned one and all to strictly adhere to all the traffic rules, clearly indicating that a breach of any of the rules attracts stringent penalties.

The Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange was built by a Brazilian construction firm, Quieiroz Galvao, and as well funded with a loan from the Brazilian government.

The construction of the interchange became necessary following constant heavy traffic at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, which handled over 84,000 vehicles from the arterial roads and their intersections daily. The project which cost €74.88  million has been lauded as one of the major achievements of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The interchange which has three flyovers, had two of them opened by President Mahama in August 2015. It also has a Fire Service and ambulance stations as well as a bus terminal. At the this final stage of its construction, the Kwame Nkrumah statute and fountain were redesigned.
