Mahama Shielding NDC Thugs

The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has accused government of operating a system where the law protects supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) against those that oppose the government.

Mr Akufo-Addo’s comments come on the back of allegations that some ministers of state had instigated their supporters to attack members of the NPP while the police looked on.

Speaking at a mini rally at Sankore in the Brong Ahafo Region as part of his campaign tour, he said an NPP government would make sure every Ghanaian is treated equally before the law.

“I’m telling the whole of Ghana that under my presidency, everybody including my ministers and my party members will all be equal before the law. The laws will work again. If an NPP supporter does something against an NDC supporter, the law will deal with you and vice-versa. The law does not discriminate. A country where the law treats people unequally does not develop,” he stated.

“Those given the power to protect us should make sure the law works for all Ghanaians irrespective of our political affiliations. President Mahama swore an oath to make sure the rule of law works without discrimination but he is discriminating. When an NDC supporter attacks an NPP supporter, the law protects him (the NDC supporter) so we need to vote the Mahama and NDC government out and get a government that will protect the interest of all Ghanaians,” Mr Akufo-Addo added.

The NPP flag bearer further accused the NDC of intimidating supporters of the NPP because it knows the majority are against it.

He encouraged the electorate to vote for the NPP and promised to create jobs if elected president. “With a month to the polls, I’m begging you to vote for the NPP. When we win, we have good policies especially for the cocoa farmers here in Sankore. We will create jobs and bring money,” he assured.
