Mahama Donates 50k and 150 Bags of Cement To Nayiri

Former President John Dramani Mahama has donated GH¢50,000 Cash and 150 bags of cement to the overlord of the Mamprugu Kingdom Nayiri, Naa Bohugu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga whose palace was gutted by fire early this month.

Former Minister of Agriculture Alhaji Mohammed Muniru-Limuna, Former Northern Regional Minister Abdallah Abubakari and some National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives who made the donation on behalf of the former president, said it was aimed at helping the chief to reconstruct his palace.

According to the delegation, the former president was concerned when news broke out about the unfortunate incident and therefore dispatched the delegation to sympathize with the chief and make the donation on his behalf.

It would be recalled that several belongings of the King in his bedroom estimated at several thousands of Ghana Cedis were lost to the fire which is believed to have been caused by power surge.

It took the timely intervention of fire service personnel of the Ghana National Fire service to save other rooms from in the palace from catching fire it but has been established that everything in the chief’s room has been burnt beyond recognition.

A fortnight ago, government through the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) donated some relief items to the king

The Northern Regional minister Salifu Sa-eed and the Coordinator of NADMO Nana Agyeman Prempeh on Saturday presented the relief items to the Nayiri on behalf of the government.

The items presented included; 50 bags of rice , 10 cartons of cooking oil, 5 cartons of soap, I bale of poly mats , 150 pieces of mosquito nets, 2 cartons of mosquito coil and an undisclosed amount of money.
