He said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer should not be allowed to continue to throw dust into the eyes of the Ghanaian people with the one district, one factory promise when he had not answered the critical question surrounding the promise.

Addressing teeming supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at a campaign rally at Sefwi Asafo in the Western Region Sunday night , the President said the NPP presidential candidate could not deceive Ghanaians with empty promises.

The charged crowd that had waited for long hours for the arrival of the NDC presidential candidate went into excitement when President Mahama finally arrived in the Western Regional town around midnight.

President Mahama was held up at other rallies in other Sefwi towns as he sought to maintain a stranglehold on the region.

President Mahama would not spare his main challenger in the December election, Nana Akufo-Addo, for churning out lies about the NDC government.

For instance, the President mentioned the claim by Nana Akufo-Addo that while he (Nana Akufo-Addo) was campaigning in the Western Region, he did not see the road infrastructure the government claimed to have undertaken in the region.

President Mahama asked the supporters whether Nana Akufo-Addo told the truth and shouts of, “no, no, no” emerged from the supporters.

“I will not say that he was sleeping when he was travelling on the roads. But, I can say that he was dozing off in his car when he was being driven around,” the President said.

President Mahama added, “You should not let anybody deceive you because this government will continue to serve the interest of the people.”

Many of the roads in the Sefwi area, which used to be in bad state had seen major improvements under my government and they evidence is there, President Mahama said.

At Sefwi Bodi, President Mahama was honoured with the Chieftaincy title, “Sompahene” by the Bodi Traditional Council.

Sompahene translated into English means good leader.

A statement accompanying the title said, President Mahama had acquitted himself as a true leader.

Responding, President Mahama thanked the chiefs for the honour done him and pledged to continue working to improve the lives of the people.

He urged the people to go out in their numbers on election day to vote for the NDC in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
