National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams says argument that President John Dramani Mahama has promised to ‘put money in Ghanaians pocket’ is “unreasonable”.

“People talk as if the president is a magician which he is not,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

Mr. Adams believes it is awkward for anyone to think that the president can perform magic to direct physical cash into people’s pocket.

He explained that the president can only create jobs which will generate the money for the populace – “That is what the president is doing. He has created jobs all over the country. So I don’t know what else he should do.”

President Mahama on a campaign platform promised to “put money in Ghanaians pocket” should they vote for him in the upcoming elections.

But on Wednesday night, the President at the 2016 Presidential Encounter hosted by Ghana Television, urged the youth to take advantage of government’s initiatives to make-ends-meet.

He explained that, government has invested a lot into skills development in other to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians seeking employment.

“The fact of life is that you can only have money in your pocket if you work and earn it and so there is no magic to put money into people’s pockets.

“That is why government is investing as much as it is investing to try and provide our people with the skills that they need to enter the world of work.

“If you sit at home and you don’t take advantage of the opportunities, money is not going to magically appear in your in your pocket . . . so what government is doing is investing to create the situation so that as many of our people can take the opportunities as possible and we are doing this in all sectors.” President Mahama said.

His comment has generated many cacophonies among the electorates – but Kofi Adams insists “President Mahama’s responsibility is not to put money in people’s pocket. There is no such arrangement for that magic.”
