Ghanaian actor, Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has said he is filing a lawsuit against the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) together with DJ Black, for playing his song during the last VGMAs gala night while refusing to nominate any of the songs he submitted to them.

The actor cum comedian cum musician said this during an interview on Live FM’s mid morning show on Tuesday, 11th April, 2017. He made the disclosure when host AJ Sarpong asked him why none of his songs were nominated at the 2017 VGMAs; not even ‘Mama Boss Papa’ which has been making waves all over the country and should had been nominated in the Most Popular Song of the Year category.

Responding to the question, Lilwin said that VGMAs’ failure to pick his songs may be traced to the fact that he is an actor and therefore does not fit well into the music circle for his songs to deserve a nomination. But making reference to American rapper 50cent who is also an actor, Lilwin still wondered what could be the reason why none of his songs where considered eligible for nomination.

“50cent is a rapper and also an actor so why didn’t they nominate any of my songs, not even ‘I don’t Think Far’ which became the nation’s anthem and I even did 4 collaborations with different artistes on them?” He queried.

He then said that he has contacted his lawyer for a legal action to be taken against both the VGMA and DJ Black for having the guts to play his songs on the awards night after refusing to nominate them for any of the awards.

“I have talked to my lawyer and we are filing a legal suit against them. If my song was not qualified, why should you have to play it there?” Lilwin fumed.

He however added jokingly that he would only go ahead with the lawsuit after he is done with the premiere of the John & John movie in order not to slow down the process.

Lilwin was actually in the studio with Kalybos and Kofas Media CEO-Kofi Asamoah to promote John & John, their latest action packed comedy movie which features a long list of prominent movie stars including Lilwin himself, Kalybos, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Joselyn Dumas, KSM, Ahuofe Patri, Bishop Bernard Nyarko, Selly Galley, Salma Mumin, John Dumelo, Abeiku Santana, Gracey Nortey, Grace Omaboe, Moesha Bodoung, Fella Makafui, Roselyn Ngissah, James Gardiner, Umar Krupp and Pete Edochie from Nigeria.

The movie directed by multiple award-winning movie director, Kofi Asamoah, is set to be premiered this Easter Saturday, 15th April 2017, at the Silverbird Cinemas at the Accra and West Hills malls.
