Late George Forest Laid To Rest In A Keyboard Casket

Celebrated Ghanaian sound engineer, George Forest, was laid to rest in a Keyboard casket, to portray the musical instrument he gained prominence with.

Celebrated Ghanaian sound engineer George Forest, has been laid to rest in the casket of the very musical instrument he gained prominence with, a keyboard. Late George forest, who is popularly known for producing some of the best of Ghana’s gospel hits, was buried on November 4th at the Tafo Ahenebronum Community Center.

The funeral and burial rites of the late music icon started on November 3 and according to reports, is scheduled to end on November 6. It was a mournful atmosphere at the funeral ceremony, which was attended by major showbiz industry persons, family and friends.

George Forest was reported dead in the early hours of 31st August at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). He died at 46, after a brief illness.

Known in real life as George Yaw Owusu, the Kumasi based sound engineer has been the one behind some of the biggest gospel tracks that have been played on Ghanaian radio.

Until his death, George Forest was a cornerstone in the gospel industry. He has been associated with such acts as Nana Acheampong, Obaapa Christy, Philipa Baafi, Gifty Osei, and Doris Gyamo, among others.

The award winning music Ghanaian producer is also credited for a number of Highlife hit songs including Nana Achampong’s song “Anka Ebeye Den Na Aye Wo Ya.” He won the Best Sound Engineer of the Year award, at the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).
