Accra-based FM station, Happy FM, in partnership with Lakeside Marina Park, has launched the 7th edition of the annual Family Fun Run event.
The fun run, which would be held on March 7th, 2017 a public holiday, comes with a variety of package for partakers and special treat for families who engage in the “walk and run” event.
Speaking at the launch, Director of Lakeside Estate, Alhaji Salah Kweku Kalmoni, said the event would be held at the Lakeside Marina Park in the Lakeside Estate in Ashaley Botchway.
He said registration for the approximately 6km-walk/run was opened to the general public, with the option to register as a family, an individual, school team or a corporate Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
He said awards would be given to the fastest man and woman, fastest child aged 12 and below, fastest teenager, fastest runner over 50 years, fastest family, fastest CEO, and fastest school team.
“This 7th edition of the Family Fun Run is so very special to us because it falls on Ghana’s 60th Independence anniversary and we are proud to say that the event has gotten bigger and touched more and more people over the years,” said Mr. Kalmoni.
He added: “We are very happy to have sustained this event and able to once again present this unique opportunity for families to come together to have fun and exercise.”
Earlier, Head of Radio of Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company, Mr. Naveen Singh, said “as a prominent sports station in the country, the health and fitness of families and the general public are our concern and we are very glad to once again bring yet another exciting edition of this Family Fun Run event.
Mr. Singh said prizes would be given to the partakers including airtime, VIP breakfast tickets from Royal Richester Hotel and souvenirs.
Among the fun activities slated for the public holiday on the park include unlimited boat rides on the lake, mini football, mini golf, volley ball, horse ride, electric scooter and cars, table tennis and obstacle courses.
For his part, Marketing Director of Lakeside Estate, Mr. Lawrence W. G. De-Souza, revealed that similar event will be held on September 21, which is the Founder’s Day Celebration, to entertain and relax the general public especially corporate bodies.
The registration centres include the Lakeside Marina Park, Happy FM, Silver Star Tower and YFM Accra Mall.
