The Government of Ghana has announced that the modernisation of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) is gathering steam.
Amandi Holdings Limited is undertaking the project at Terminal Two, while Mapa Construction and Trade Company Incorporated is constructing Terminal Three.
The Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) is investing US$292 million in terminal infrastructure at the KIA.
The Managing Director of the GACL, Mr Charles K. Asare, earlier this year said funding of the project was from the company’s internally generated funds and loans contracted from financial institutions.
The project covers the extension of Terminal Two at the cost of US$42 million and the construction of Terminal Three at US$250 million.
A deputy minister of communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Tuesday September 20 wrote on Facebook: “Modernisation of Kotoka International Airport gathers steam … the facility is equipped with automated storage and retrieval systems, 2,800 pallet positions, a mini shipment tower, cold stores, bullion stores, x-ray scanners and the highest level of security controls and CCTV monitoring.”
