Flagbearer and Chairman of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) Dr Henry Herbert Lartey says Ghanaians should extend the mandate of the John Dramani Mahama-led government for four more years.
He said the schools, hospitals and roads constructed under President Mahama are evidence of the development that has taken place under the president’s watch.
Speaking to Onua FM’s Antwi Boasiako on Sunday,November 27, Dr Lartey said it will be hypocritical on anyone’s part to say that jobs are not being created with these infrastructural projects.
“When roads, schools are built, employment is provided in that sector,” he said in Fante, listing labourers, engineers, carpenters and masons as some of the professionals employed.
“Sometimes, let us say the truth and be free,” he advised.
Dr Lartey said even in the US infrastructure is cherished, “how much more Ghana?”
“So, for us in the GCPP, we want a government that will raise the standard of living. Sometimes, it is hard but that doesn’t mean things are worse.”
He expressed confidence that after President Mahama’s term expires in 2021, a GCPP government will take over.
