I’m Ready To Declare My Assets

Presidential staffer, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has described as “backwardness and ridiculous nonsense” the seizure of cars from appointees and members National Democratic Congress (NDC) by government.

According to him, lawless operations being undertaken by the Invisible Forces of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if not halted will be met with stiff opposition from the NDC.

“They don’t have monopoly over the tongue and heart of people; they [NPP] should be careful” he warned.

Mr. Afriyie Ankrah was reacting to allegations by NPP Deputy General Secretary that he had stolen government vehicle.

Nana Obiri Boahen claimed the presidential staffer has in his possession a Toyota Camry belonging to government and has changed the chassis number and documents into his name.

But in a rebuttal, Afriyie Ankrah on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday said the allegation are a figment of his [Obiri Boahen’s] imagination.

He explained that, after the Transition Team agreed for all government appointees who desire to buy their cars, it was valued and he paid his money at the Bank of Ghana, paid duty at Customs and got the documents from DVLA.

However, Afriyie Ankrah revealed that he was at his pastor’s house during the week when some men from Operations Department at the Flagstaff House came for the car and all its documents “but after thorough investigations, they returned the car with apology”.

He stated unequivocally that he has not stolen any government vehicle thus the NPP should “leave me alone. Ghanaians are too intelligent for this kind of joke”.

Mr. Afriyie Ankrah said he is ready to declare his assets and that of his wife if he is invited for any probe by government.

“I’m challenging him if someone has stolen any government car, they should bring it out in the public domain,” he dared.

He was convinced the NPP leadership has turned their guns on them because they cannot control the Invisible Forces.

“If out of your own irresponsible behaviours, you cannot control your boys, they should find a way of dealing with it. We are not a Kangaroo republic; they are sending us back 20 years”.
