Ghanaian comic actor Abraham Kofi Davies, mostly known as Salinko, has said he won’t give up on his political dream after his inability to enter parliament on the ticket of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) during the December 2016 general elections.

The popular actor has vowed to give the slot another try still on the ticket of the PPP during Ghana’s next parliamentary polls which is some four clear years away.

“Next four years, I will contest again to achieve my aim. So Ghanaians should watch out for me. People have been asking if I would go on the ticket of PPP again. Once I have highlighted the condition to be a politician as an actor, if God permits in the next four years I will go again for PPP…I will still join the PPP to move forward,” Salinko told NEWS-ONE.

Salinko was one of the creative arts personalities who failed to make it into parliament after the December 7 elections.

He lost the constituency polls to Dr Kojo Appiah-Kubi of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who garnered 42,264 votes.

Salinko got 858 votes which constituted 1.37 percent of the total cast. But, he said he has hopes of increasing the tally next four years.

“All though I didn’t win and Paa Kwesi Ndoum didn’t win too, we are happy there was a peaceful election. I want to thank Ghanaians for that feat,” he added.

Salinko also took the opportunity to congratulate ex-President John Mahama for inviting filmmakers to dine with him and for the advice he gave them to take interest in politics.

He congratulated President Nana Akufo-Addo for winning the December presidential elections and also apologised for his failure to honour his invitation when Nana Addo called on creative arts personalities.

Salinko cautioned new ministers of the current administration not to let the country down. According to him, they should join Nana Addo to “protect the public purse.”
