Gospel songstress, Gifty Osei has revealed her intention to contest the Awutu- Senya West Constituency seat in 2024.

She had ealier declared her intention to contest the seat in this year’s (2016) election but she later gave up her dreams of representing her people in the House of Parliament.

Giftty Osei who’s also known in showbiz as Empress, in an interview with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa 102.5FM, said she has a bright music career and so believes she can enter politics in the next seven years (2023) to realize her ambitions.

“I met with my team and we went through what we are supposed to do the whole year, but I had to do more of touring abroad for events. My people do love me and they know I can do what they want when they give me the mandate.”

According to Gifty Osei, she reached a consensus with her management that she needs a lot of time to prepare for political office in as much as the constituents are appealing to her to serve them.

“I sat down with them and told them this is what I want to do; I have given myself two years do all my event tours outside and I have given myself another five years of which I want to be a producer, then I enter into politics.”

The Gospel artiste was made Peace and Development Ambassador in her native land, Senya Bereku in 2013.

Other Ghanaian celebrities who have decided to use their fame to run for political office in Ghana include Maame Dokono, Dzifa Gomashie, Gifty Anti, Seth Kwame Dzokoto, Salinko, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Abeiku Santana.

Gifty who is now the treasurer of the Greater Accra regional branch of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) came out in 2007 with ‘Aseda’ and got married the same year. Her second album ‘Fefefe’ was released in 2010 with her third album in 2014.
