EXECUTIVE Director of the Institute of Governance and Security (IGS), David Agbey, has described the decision by the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu, to make major changes in the Police Service, following his appointment as a laudable initiative.
According to him, the changes should not come as a surprise to Ghanaians since transfers are paramount to the Police Service in Ghana.
Speaking in an interview on Class FM’s Executive Morning show yesterday, Mr. David Agbey pointed out that the exercise by the IGP was to re-align and reposition police personnel in strategic positions to enable proper work flow in the service.
According to him, personnel were expected to exhibit their experiences from previous departments to execute various jobs.
For his part, Director of Public Affairs, Superintendent Cephas Arthur, said the changes were not political, but rather to improve efficiency of work.
“Transfer is the practice of the service and therefore, the IGP deems it fit to move persons to execute certain actions to help him achieve his vision,” he added.
