He said the monster threatening the peace of the nation is party politics.

He, therefore, called upon Ghanaians to emulate Benin by voting for a candidate not affiliated with any political party.

He made these suggestions at a ceremony in Accra to get all 2016 presidential candidates sign a peace accord with seven days to the elections.

The ceremony was organized by the National Peace Council (NPC) with support from the international community especially Ecowas and the UN.

Taking his turn as the last candidate, just like will be on the 2016 ballots, Mr Yeboah said: “I would rather wish that the seven of us should be killed rather than the nation killed for the seven of us”.

He said Ghanaians should embrace the peace being enjoyed, observing that if an independent candidate is voted for, there will be no need to even meet again in 2020 for such an accord.

UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas added his voice to the calls of peace, asking Ghana to extend its enviable record of having held succesive elections.

Other personalities that added their voices to the message of peace were Ecowas Chair Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Deputy Secretary-General at the Commonwelath Secretariat Dr Josephine Ojiambo.
