Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Mercy Adu-Gyamfi also known as Ama Sey has sworn to retire former MP for the area Baba Jamal from politics.
She indicated that given the massive infrastructural development should wound be undertaking in the constituency, the 2020 elections would be a cool chop for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
After just one term in Parliament, Baba Jamal lost his seat Ama Sey in the 2016 general elections.
Mr. Jamal who was also a Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations in the erstwhile Mahama administration polled 16,925 votes, which were not enough to retain him the seat.
His closest contender, Ama Sey, polled 21,436 to reclaim the seat for the NPP.
Given this track record, the Akwatia MP in an interview on Adom News said the Akwatia constituency seat will be for the NPP forever.
She noted that the return of Baba Jamal to contest the Akwatia seat is the least of her worries because she wants to lead Akwatia to a path of economic growth and prosperity.
“I will end unemployment and develop agriculture in Akwatia to make me popular in the area so coming back to contest the seat will not be an option for Baba Jamal” Ama Sey added.
