According to him, his intention stemmed from the fact that he knew they would be jailed by the apex court in view of the circumstances surrounding the matter.

Alistair Nelson, Montie FM presenter Salifu Maase also known as Mugabe and Godwin Ako Gunn, were jailed by the Supreme Court for contempt after they heard them scandalising judges on radio.

There were granted remission by President John Mahama after serving just one-month of the four-month jail term slapped on them.

Speaking to Accra-based Adom FM, Nelson said even though inmates at the Nsawam Prison treated them well, life in prison is difficult.

“…It is definitely not a nice experience regardless of the fact that we were treated very well by inmates. I’d wanted to throw my sandals at the judges when we went to the court that day because I knew we would be jailed but my lawyer advised me not to and when we were sentenced, and sent to the prison, my life changed completely,” he said.

He added: “I have been reformed so much that even if someone slaps me on my left cheek, I would turn the other side for the person to slap me again”.

Meanwhile, a private legal practitioner has filed a suit at the Supreme Court challenging the legality of the decision by the President in activating article 72 of the constitution in granting remission to the three.
