Campaign coordinator of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) says President Mahama will not apologise for his comment deemed ethnocentric.
According to Kofi Adams, the President only stated the obvious truth thus could not fathom why some people have made it a big deal.
His comment follows a statement issued by Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) urging President Mahama to apologise to Ghana after he urged voters in the three regions of the North to vote for the NDC because it is the only party that allows Northerners to rise to the height of political power.
This statement MFWA said, it was ‘ethnocentric and divisive’ which they say has the tendency to divide the country ahead of the December 7 general elections.
But Kofi Adams on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, was convinced the statement calling on President Mahama to apologise did not come from the MFWA.
“I don’t think this statement came from the Media Foundation; I’m sure their website was hacked” he added.
The NDC National Organizer claimed the president was only exposing the internal politics and power play in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“In NPP the only position a Northerner can rise to, is a running mate and this is bad so President Mahama said nothing wrong to apologise” he added.
If anything at all. Kofi Adams said the President must be commended for exposing the hypocrisy and double standards of the NPP.
