President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has assured the top hierarchy of the Ghana Police Service that he has no agenda to witch-hunt them. According to him, he bears no grudge against any one who worked under his major opponent President Mahama and his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Nana Akufo-Addo made this known on Monday, December 12, when the Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor, called on him at his residence. IGP was recently at the Nima residence of the President-elect, to congratulate him on his election victory. During his courtesy visit, the IGP pledged his support, loyalty and that of the Police Service to the president-elect. He assured Nana Addo of the Police’s commitment to ensure law and order in the country.

In his response, Nana Addo assures IGP Kudalor he will work together with the Police Service, to deliver efficient service to the people of Ghana; when he is finally sworn into office.

On December 7, Nana Akufo-Addo polled over 53% of the votes cast to beat his main contender -President Mahama who secured 44.40 of valid votes cast. The party also had an overwhelming majority in Parliament with 171 seats and is looking to hit the ground running. President Mahama’s loss makes him the first incumbent to lose an election, since Ghana returned Ghana returned to multi-party democracy in 1992.

While Ghanaians have speculated a possible retaliation against his opponents -the NDC, Nana Addo has said he is not the kind that bears grudges against people.

Reiterating his earlier assertion, the president-elect finally told IGP Kudalor to feel comfortable; assuring that whatever decisions will be taken after January 7, 2017, will be in the wider interest of the nation.
