The Member of Parliament for Madina, Alhaji Abubakar Siddique Boniface says he was not being picky with constituencies following his successful move from the Salaga South constituency in the Northern Region, to the Madina constituency in the Greater Accra Region to contest for parliament.

Alhaji Siddique Boniface’s move to the Madina constituency followed his defeat in the parliamentary polls in the Salaga South Constituency during 2012 general elections, where he contested on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He, however, made his way down south to the Madina constituency where he defeated the National Democratic Congress’ incumbent MP, Alhaji Amadu Sorogho securing 54.98% of the vote.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, Alhaji Siddique Boniface insisted that he had always had ties with the people of Madina, and that his move to the area to contest the parliamentary seat was completely organic.

“I didn’t run to Accra. I have stayed in Madina for 32 years. Even before I went to Salaga, the people of Madina wanted me to contest in Madina and these are the same people who accepted me.”

“When I lost, the good people of Madina said; look, we have never rejected you. We still like you – come… I never ever in my life went constituency shopping. It was those constituencies who were looking for me. If you check my profile, I cut across about six regions in this country,” the MP said.

Alhaji Siddique Boniface noted further that, he had ties to Nkonya in the Volta Region, Obo in the Eastern Region, Saltpond in the Central Region, and Gonjaland in the Northern Region via various kinship ties.
