A journalist and mother of two seeking domestic assistance had the shock of her life Tuesday after a yet-to-be engaged house help allegedly looted her home.

According to Hannah Awadzi, the female house-help was posted to her by an online agency upon her request.

Narrating her ordeal to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Wednesday, the frustrated expectant mother said she had dropped her to-be house help at a point to go back home until she was done with a background check on her, but returned home to find her residence burgled.

“I told her I needed to do a background check before I could let her in to work. Immediately, she told me she wanted to visit the washroom, which she did severally. Before I left the house together with her, she told me she wanted to drink water.

“I directed her to the kitchen to sort herself out. It was at that point that she took my kitchen key. I returned home after picking my kids from school only to notice everything was gone. She made away with my TV, laptops, money among other valuable items,” the GNA journalist recounted.

She said the matter has been reported to the Oyibi Police in Accra. Meanwhile, the PRO of the Police CID Chief Inspector Richmond Mensah has called on the public to be vigilant and cautious of the people they take to their homes. “There has been instances where people come in as plumbers, masons among others just to rob. The public must be very careful who they invite into their homes. The public should feel free to contact us on 18555 whenever they have some suspicions”.
