The All People’s Congress (APC) has scheduled the first week of September to launch its national campaign and unveil its vice presidential candidate to prosecute the agenda of contesting and winning the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The party is currently working on the venue for the campaign launch and unveiling of the running mate possibly in the Greater Accra or Ashanti region.

Mr Hassan Ayariga, the flag bearer of APC who spoke to the Daily Graphic in Accra, said the campaign launch would immediately be followed with a manifesto launch on the theme: “Come on board and let’s build Ghana together”.

Throwing more light on the key programmes of the party, Mr Ayariga said the campaign would be an open platform for all Ghanaians to get on board to reconstruct the country.

He said the party would field parliamentary candidates in all the 275 constituencies in the country, who will become the campaign directors for the party in the various constituencies.

He said since the campaign directors had stake in the elections, they would work extra hard to win parliamentary seats for the party, as well as garner votes for the party’s presidential candidate.

He said the party’s 50-page manifesto soon to be launched was hinged on primary and secondary research into the Ghanaian economy.

The manifesto, Mr Ayariga said, also outlined the need for good governance and an all-inclusive administration.

Winner takes all

In his view, the winner-takes-all syndrome is a hindrance to accelerated national development and that the party has put in place a programme of action to get all Ghanaians to take ownership of the day-to-day administration of the country.

Mr Ayariga said the party had come up with a roadmap which focuses on the election of the constituency, regional and national officers to position the party to cause a stir in the election by winning some key seats.
