The incumbent Member of Parliament for Tano South Constituency, Dr Hanna Louisa Bisiw, has called on her constituents to vote decisively for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections to continue its developmental agenda.

Dr. Bisiw says her developmental track record is enough to earn her a second term in office.

The Tano South Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region has been a strong hold of the New Patriotic Party since 2000 as the party won majority votes in both the presidential and parliamentary polls.

But in 2012, the NDC parliamentary candidate, Dr. Hanna Bisiw, snatched the seat with 19,239 votes as against the 17,857 votes of then incumbent NPP MP, though Nana Akufo-Addo won the presidential race with 51.6 percent.

Hanna Bisiw, who is currently the Deputy Minister of Agriculture in-charge of Livestock, wants to increase the gap and ensure that John Mahama wins the majority votes in the presidential race.

At her campaign launch in Derma to officially begin canvassing for votes, the incumbent MP highlighted some of the developmental projects of the NDC in her constituency.

“In less than 4 years, the people of Tano South constituency have benefitted from what the NPP couldn’t give them in 8 years. Roads have been improved to prevent post-harvest loss to farmers, more health facilities have been constructed, most schools under tree have been eliminated, access to potable water has been expanded, and market centres have been constructed to boost economic activities in the areas”.

Dr. Bisiw pleaded with the constituents to give the NDC a second term in office to continue with the Better Ghana agenda.

“If we want to see more development in our area, then the NDC government must be retained”.

The Brong Ahafo regional minister, Eric Opoku, debunked claims by the NPP that the NDC government has collapsed the National Health Insurance Scheme.

He also touted some of the achievements of the NDC in the Brong Ahafo Region in the area of health, education and road infrastructure development.

“Within a period of 7 years, the NDC government has improved the number of health facilities in the Brong Ahafo Region from 226 to 726 facilities”.

Hundreds of NDC party supporters and sympathizers thronged the Derma lorry station to support the campaign launch of the Member of Parliament.

Dr. Bisiw paid a courtesy call on the Derma Traditional Council to seek blessing for her campaign.
