The Presiding Member of the Atiwa District Assembly, Ernest Adade Wiredu has been backed by three groups as the right man for the appointment of a District Chief Executive for the area.

The Concerned Assembly Members of Atiwa, Concerned Chiefs of Atiwa and some members of the New Patriotic Party in the Atiwa East have in a joint letter asked the office of the president to consider him for the job.

The groups are confident Mr. Adade Wiredu is best placed to confront the challenges facing the area as well as help the people there.

According to the chiefs, they have done extensive consultations on four persons who have been shortlisted which influenced their conclusion that the Presiding Member who represents the Asamamg Tamfoe Electoral area is the best person for the post.

They also observed that since the creation of the Atiwa District, all the DCEs have come from the west of the district. It is therefore fair that equal opportunity is given to someone from the eastern part of the area, they said.

His supporters also argued that after losing the Atiwa East parliamentary primary in 2012 to Abena Osei Asare, Adade Wiredy did not relent to support her throughout the campaign which saw her becoming a legislator.

The groups in separate interviews contended that the Presiding Member has worked with the former DCE and therefore knows the various communities in the jurisdiction and also conversant with the problems facing the community.

Aside being a strong anti-galamsey activist, he is seen as a unifier who has been able to unite the assembly members irrespective of their political affiliation, seeing him as someone who can help Nana Akufo-Addo to achieve his vision for the people of Atiwa.
