While Avram Grant has packed his bags and left Ghana as coach for the Black Stars, two of the backroom staff he employed during that period are still locked in a battle to get paid as Ghana racks up more bills on them.

The Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports are still grappling with the fallout from that departure

Gerrard Nus, a Spaniard who worked as video analyst for Grant and Jamie Lawrence who was his physical trainer during the 2015 and 2017 Nations Cups are having a hard time getting paid.

They have remained at the Alisa Hotel at the expense of the Ghana Football Association, working the phones without any success. Nus and Lawrence were engaged by the Ghana Football Association on the recommendation of Grant to boost his backroom staff for the 2017 Nations Cup.

Nus says they have been told the Ministry of Youth and Sports will be responsible for their payment and says he simply wants to be paid like everyone else so he can return to base in Spain where he is assistant technical director at Rayo Vallecano.

“Well the situation is that, like any worker in the world you expect to get paid when you do a job. At this moment, we are now heading to the third week after AFCON when we arrived from Gabon to Accra.

I am confident that the GFA and the ministry are doing all they can to settle this bonus issue that at this point has not been sorted out yet. I have not been paid as we agreed and all I am doing is just to stay because I am looked forward to sort it out.

I am sure they will do it and I am sure all the nice people involved in this process are fighting to get it done.” Nus said in an exclusive interview with TV3’S Nana Kojo Afreh

Grant, his players and other members of the team have all left to their respective bases so there is an assumption that they have received their monies after the work done at AFCON 2017.

Nus who is still at the Alisa Hotel in Accra awaiting payment of his money says “ I understand that I am not the only one in this state. Avram told me he still has some issues he needs to sort out basically that he has not received all that he is supposed to receive from the GFA.

I have been told that with the new minister, there is a process and that everyone needs some time to get in line. I have also been told that the budget of the GFA comes from the Ministry so I am waiting. They have given me so many possibilities of which I can get the money and I am just waiting for them to sort it out” he added.
