The Interior Ministry, Ambrose Dery, has revealed plans by the government to support the work of the traditional authorities and the Houses of Chiefs to resolve the chieftaincy dispute in Bimbila in the Northern Region.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament Wednesday, Mr Dery said te government will not interfere in the matter but ensure peace and security of the area.
Renewed conflict in the town two weeks ago between the Nakpaa and Andani royal gates has left about 11 people, mostly women and children, dead as well as countless injuries and the destruction of properties.
Many residents of the impoverished town have also fled to nearby communities.
Although a combined force of military and police personnel have quelled the gun violence that hit the town with the imposition of a curfew, the situation remains fluid.
Speaking on the matter in Parliament, the Interior said there are key challenges that need to be surmounted before lasting peace can be achieved, although he would not provide details.
Meanwhile, Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, has questioned the security agencies on why they failed to respond to the situation earl despite the warning signs.
The Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was not happy about the discussion of details of matters of national security in the open and entreated members to be circumspect when they are commenting on matters that border on security.
