It has been reported that government has released allowances for nursing trainees in all government assisted colleges. Dr. Bampoe at the event said that government released allowances which will cover for three months. The allowances he continued, will give room for the necessary arrangements to be made for students to access loans to continue their education. The Deputy Minister also told the students that some of them will begin receiving the amount very soon. Dr Bampoe also added that the students can cross check with their principals for proof, if they doubt his affirmation.

The Deputy Minister said that government decided to release trainee allowances because it had the interest of health personnel at heart and would, therefore, do all it can to make sure they feel comfortable. He also touted the achievements of the Mahama-led administration on the health sector. Shedding light on government’s paln to do more, Dr Bampoe said that over $2billion had been sunk into infrastructure, over $267 million in the provision of modern equipment under the National Equipment Replacement Programme, while other training facilities were being expanded.

He also mentioned Polyclinics completed or at various stages of completion across the regions, over 17 district hospitals, CHPS compounds, and major facilities like the University of Ghana Medical Center, the Ridge Hospital, the Kumasi Military Hospital. These infrastructures he said, will create thousands of jobs for students.

The exact date for the reception of the allowances has not yet been known, but it is expected that in the coming days, students will start receiving.
