His comments follow recent attacks on the police administration by some citizens over their allege bias and unprofessionalism and their failure to manage electoral violence in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview with Rainbow Radio’s Kwame Tutu, the Police PRO said, political party leaders who chide the police are the same persons who incite their followers, buy them offensive weapons like guns to engage in violence.

He said, ‘’politicians in Ghana are hypocrites. They incite and sponsor their members to engage in violence and hooliganism then they later accuse the police of bias and unprofessionalism. Politicians are the ones who buy the guns for the members and when there is violence, they blame the police. The hypocrisy must stop. You cannot sponsor violence and incite your members and later blame the police for failing to prevent these occurrences you sponsored.’’

The police he emphasized will continue to maintain law and order, arrest and prosecute persons found culpable of violence and instability.

He charged politicians to stop dragging police officers into politics and allow them to discharge their duty with utmost integrity.

Superintendent Cephas Arthur said the police administration will not be intimidated or compromise their professional ethics for any political party or politicians.

”The police have adopted measures to ensure stability in this country especially as we prepare towards the presidential and parliamentary elections. We have met with all the stakeholders in the upcoming polls. We are fully prepared for the election and I want to assure Ghanaians that, we will not compromise the safety of citizens for any reason.”
