Ghana@60 Necessary But Must Be Modest – Akufo-Addo

H. E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated planning committees ahead of Independence Day.

In a press conference, the president said that this Independence Day called for special celebration as the day held “symbolic value” to all Ghanaians

“It is right and proper that we celebrate on symbolic occasions, even though we are going through difficult times.”

He further explained that the celebration of Ghana’s 60th Anniversary should be modest because of the financial situation of the country but promised that it will be elegant.

He charged the Ken Amankwah led committee to put together a comprehensive programme of events for the 60th Anniversary which is 7 weeks away. The committee is made up of some 19 members who will constitute the 60th Anniversary Planning Committee. A second committee was also tasked with the responsibility of identifying Ghanaians who deserved to be honoured as part of the celebrations.
