Nii Bi Ayi Bonte counsel for the Gbese Mantse told an Accra Circuit Court when the case was called. Gbese Mantse who was not in court was however represented by some elders.

Prosecuting Inspector Adu Acheampong told the court that Francis one of the accused persons who was present in court, should go and also give his statement to the Police.

The matter was therefore adjourned to March 9.

The prosecution of the Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi Bonte III and two others in the Accra Circuit Court for alleged forceful entry into the Adjabeng Ankrah family land at the Industrial Area.

Nii Ayi Bonte II and his accomplices, Nii Okaikoi aka Korle We and one Francis alias Korea Man, however, failed to appear before the court.

The Gbese Mantse in a statement, however, denied ever being invited by the Police in respect of the matter adding “This information has come as a surprise to me (Nii Ayi – Bonte II, Gbese Mantse) because such allegation has not been brought to my notice at all.””

At the last sitting, the Police prosecutor, Inspector Adu Acheampong, therefore prayed the court for a bench warrant to arrest the accused persons for their failure to appear in court although they had been served notice.

The Court presided over by Mrs Ruby Naa Adjeley Quaison, however, declined to issue the bench warrant saying there was nothing on her case docket indicating that the accused persons have been asked to appear before the court.

The court therefore directed the police that “if the Police wanted the accused persons to appear in court they know what to do”.
