The battle for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency seat has intensified between major contending parties; National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP). In his bid to win more votes, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate Delali Akwasi Brempong, resorted to distributing truck loads of sachet water to students at the University of Ghana campus Legon, on Saturday evening.

Although Mr. Brempong has not revealed why he sent the “goodies” to the campus, his face and the NDC logo are boldly printed on the sachets. It is however perceived that Mr Brempong made the move to motivate the students to vote for him in the coming elections.

The NDC parliamentary hopeful for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Delali Akwasi Brempong is seeking to unseat the incumbent MP, Emmanuel Agyarko of the NPP.

Meanwhile, there are subsequent reports that most of the Legon students rejected the sachet water from the NDC parliamentary candidate. Though not confirmed, it was also reported by some media outlets that some of the students chanted “we want change” even as they accepted the sachet water.

According to reports, Legon students are mostly registered voters in the constituency and mark a large population of the electorate for the area. Also, the Legon electoral area, holds the highest number of registered voters in the constituency. The area has become a hot spot for politicians during electioneering periods, as it is seen as significant in determining the ultimate winner of the seat.

Contending parties in recent times, have had their respective campaign trails touch down the area to make their presence felt in the constituency. Interestingly, the incumbent MP, Emmanuel Agyarko who is seeking reelection has been spotted many times, urging them to vote him to remain the Member of Parliament for the constituency.
