Websites that spread false news are on the rise in Ghana. They tend to clone other popular websites so that the news appears to be from a credible source.
The office of former President John Kufuor has rubbished reports about his death which have gone viral on social media.
According to the news, websites spreading this hoax, the former president died in South Africa. However, Accra-based Citi FM reports that the statesman was at an event in the Eastern Region on Monday, November 14.
The statement further noted that, Mr Kufuor, 77, is going about his duties as usual and is in good health, although he is seen in public using a walking stick.

They include popular actors Kyeiwaa, Waayosi and even Kufour’s wife, Theresa Kufuor.
John Kufuor became president in 2001; which was the first peaceful transfer of power from one democratically elected government to another. Under his administration, he pursued a number of social policies such as the National Health Insurance Scheme, the school feeding programme and free maternal health care.
