A former deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana, Emmanuel Asiedu Mantey has expressed optimism in the newly appointed governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr. Ernest Addison.
Dr. Addison was sworn in as the new governor of the central bank, following the resignation of Dr. Abdul Nashiru Ishaku.
According to Mr. Mantey, the credentials and experiences of the new governor put him in a pole position to implement policies to ensure that the economy does well.
“I have known Dr. Addison for quite some time; he is not new to the central bank, he knows his way out,” he assured.
He further admonished Dr. Addison to work closely with the fiscal authority and the Ministry of Finance for harmonious operations.
Speaking on the seeming instability in the office of the governor, Asiedu Mantey noted that “the laws of the Bank of Ghana as well as the constitution of the country states specifically that a governor’s term is four years”.
The immediate former governor of the central bank, Dr. Abdul Nashiru Issahaku’s one year period in office saw the stabilization of the cedi and drop in inflation.
These achievements by the past governor were also lauded by Mr. Asiedu Mantey.
