TTAG has debunked claims by the Education Ministry that they have released monies for the payment of teacher trainee feeding grants.
The Teacher Trainee Association of Ghana (TTAG) has made it clear that they have so far not received any monies from the Education Ministry to take care of the feeding of trainee teachers in public colleges of education across the country.
Meanwhile, a statement has been circulating on various media platforms in which the Education Ministry claim to have released a sum of GH¢50,532,000 for the payment of feeding grants for teacher trainees.

The TTAG recently intensified its call on the Ministry to release funds for their feeding grants, which has been in arrears for about three semesters. The claims by the Education Ministry came at the heels of an attempted picketing at its premises by the aggrieved TTAG over the unpaid arrears of feeding grants on the 28th of December. 2016. They were however stopped by the police.
In the said press statement press statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Dan Osman Mwin, the amount released covers arrears for the second semester of the 2014/15 academic year, as well as the first half of the second semesters of the 2015/16 academic year.
However, Jonathan Apam, President of TTAG in an interview with Citi News said that no such money has been received by the association from the Education Ministry. According to him, they have checked all appropriate quarters including the NCTE and have seen nothing. He therefore described the development as an act of deception by the ministry, aimed at calming down the dust being raised by their public outcry.
He however called on the Education Ministry to provide them with clarifications on the exact institution to whom the payments were made so as to enable them follow up and receive their money.
