Dabboussi, a journalist, an NPP sympathizer, a fierce critique of the Mahama administration and an author of “59 years to nowhere” was arrested upon his arrival from Lebanon at the Kotoka International Airport on Friday by National Security operatives.

The arrest was premised by a statement he made on social media about President Mahama allegedly impregnating the daughter of Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II and questioning his HIV status.

In an interview with Peace FM’s Kokrooko Morning show host Kwame Sefa Kayi, on Monday, Fadi admitted that his statement caused his arrest and revealed that he retracted and apologised unequivocally to National Security when all was made clear to him.

According to him, his assertion had been misconstrued and described as below the belt by many, including the National Security, hence all he could do was to retract.

“Apparently, my statement was misconstrued and misunderstood and I apologise unequivocally”, he told the host.

Dabboussi said he apologized because they told him his statement was not an opinion but he was trying to state facts which indicts the President.

He explained that his statements were information pieces, gathered from different newspapers such as the Al Hajj and the Catalyst to form an opinion and ask an innocent question in reaction to what the African Watch Magazine had published about Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

The NPP stalwart was released from the National Security cells after 48 hours of being there.

He is to report to the regional National Security office on Friday to continue the case.
