Don’t Interfere With Work of Police As They Deal With Delta Force

A founder Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr George Ayisi-Boateng, has asked leading members of the party not to interfere with the work of the police in dealing with members of the Delta Force who brutally attacked and removed the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator from office in Kumasi last Friday.

He added that what members of the Delta Force did was not in tandem with the beliefs and actions of the NPP and left to him alone, such elements must be dismissed from the party.

Mr Ayisi-Boateng expressed delight at the arrest of five members of the group in addition to its leading member, adding that they must be made to face the full rigours of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.

Reacting to the actions and the arrest of five other members of the group, Mr Ayisi-Boateng told the Daily Graphic that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had condemned such acts and directed the police to let the laws of the country work, and expressed the hope that the police would take the bull by the horn and its work.

Investors

Mr Ayisi-Boateng said such acts had the tendency to ward off the many investors who had expressed interest to invest their capital in Ghana, especially in helping to realise the ‘One Factory, One District’, ‘Agriculture for Food and Job’ and the ‘One District One Dam’ policies, all geared towards providing jobs for the teeming youth and propelling the industrialisation agenda of the government.

He wondered why some followers of the NPP did not want to emulate the law-abiding and magnanimous nature of the President who had dedicated himself and his government to fixing the rot that was created by his predecessor and ensure that Ghana’s economy was put on the right footing.

“Ghanaians are looking up to the Akufo-Addo government to ensure that the ‘One District, One Factory’ bears fruits for all Ghanaians to benefit irrespective of political affiliation. President Akufo-Addo needs peace of mind to correct all the mess inflicted on the nation through the insensitivity and incompetence of the NDC administration,” Mr Ayisi-Boateng added.

He said the work of the President had started bearing fruits with the recent removal of some taxes on petroleum products which had culminated in reduction of fuel prices, coupled with the reduction in base rate by the Bank of Ghana to 23.5 which is the lowest in the last 10 years.

DCEs

Mr Ayisi-Boateng expressed worry about the increasing trend where some party people, including constituency executive members, who should know better, have started issuing threats because they have heard a name or two for the position of metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives.

He stated that such party members should be extremely careful and not resort to means that would offend the rules and regulations governing the party, but must realise that not all party members or people of their choices could be given appointments.

Background

Last Friday, members of the Delta Force stormed the offices of the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Mr George Adjei, smashed doors and window glasses and pulled him out of the office.

Their argument was that they did not see Mr Adjei when the party was struggling to win power and that his appointment must be revoked.

Currently, six members of the group have been arrested and are assisting the police with investigations.
