The mendacity that now pollutes the politics of this nation provokes a degree of understandable cynicism that makes trust an almost saintly virtue.

Lower standards and a diminished regard for truthfulness in those pretending to serve our need for truth make it difficult for us to develop the kind of judgment necessary for trust to be lucid.

It undermines zeal and the hope in our nature of political virtue and what it can mean for politics to be a vocation. “Truthfulness has never been counted among the political virtues, and lies have always been regarded as justifiable tools in political dealings.”

Elsewhere in one of my articles I stated that, lies are often much more plausible, more appealing to reason, than reality, since the liar has the great advantage of knowing beforehand what the audience wishes or expects to hear. And more often than not, when you repeat lies often, it becomes the truth in political arena. This is exactly what Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is good at and will continue to do until he can do no more.

This is the guy who tried causing mayhem by asking Muslims to vote NPP because he would be sworn on the Koran and his boss on the Bible. His provocative and sectarianism received wide condemnation from all political divide. If his claim as a true Muslim is something to go by, he wouldn’t have shelved his wife’s infidelity under the carpet just because it would taint his political ambition as a running mate.

Muslim society is based on purity of feeling, love, sincerity, and fulfillment of promises to every member of society. True Muslims are endowed with piety, truthfulness, and faithfulness. Cheating and deception are alien characters in contrast to the noble character of a true Muslim.

Yet Dr Bawumia could tell the world and his wife that he had document evidence that the ruling party had registered more than 70,000 Togolese and Burkinabe’s to vote for them, when indeed he was lying and has till date not shut his beak about it. When Moody’s rating of Ghana is B3 Stable, he would confuse Ghanaians that, Moody’s meant Negative.

The highest Moody’s rating for Ghana since 2003 is B+ when even, the country’s debt has been forgiven under J. A. Kufuor. But Kufuor left the country with massive debt and corruption was high, and drug traffic was at its highest epoch. It seems to me Dr Bawumia is economically with the truth but will pollute the good people of Ghana.

Is he coerced to say anything to please Nana Addo or applying political propaganda? An old warmonger one said ´The function of propaganda does not lie in the scientific training of the individual, but in calling the masses’ attention to certain facts, processes, necessities, whose significance is thus for the first time placed within their field of vision.

The whole art consists in doing this so skillfully that everyone will be convinced that the fact is real, the process necessary, the necessity correct” It is no wonder that he can deny receiving direct and indirect support from a regime his father benefitted massively from.

The ideological underpinnings of his attitudes and behaviours labels him as a sectarian, who aggressively seeking to trample other people’s achievements just to have his way, “any means necessary” I call. His act of vilification of President John Dramani Mahama is barbaric and absurd and I believe posterity is watching us.

Like his boss, who lies about his lawyer qualification, Dr Bawumia doesn’t convince me about his true meaning of studying in UK, and indeed he has skeleton in his closet about the real truth of his A-Level results. There is also a proof that the crucial part of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s education was after his GCE A-Level.

Until Ghana fully embraced the JHS and SHS educational system, the traditional system of education in Ghana was that, the successful GCE O-Level students would proceed to Sixth-form to pursue GCE A-Level. And without a doubt, successful GCE A-Level graduates will enter University of Ghana, UST (now KNUST) or University of Cape Coast.

Under strange circumstances would successful GCE A-Level graduates refuse to enter university. Even then, schools like IPS (now UPS) offered places for two passes in GCE A-Level when they ceased offering places for GCE O-Level graduates. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia finished his GCE A-Level in 1982 and that same year he travelled to UK to pursue a private college offering banking course.

Couldn’t he had entered university in Ghana if he had a good results in GCE A-Level, or entered university in UK? A private college in UK wouldn’t offer scholarship and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had no other means apart from his father means. Therefore his travelling to UK to pursue a college diploma is mischievous and smack corruption.

NDC General Secretary, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, should be vindicated for his comments about Dr Mahamudu Bawumia receiving favour during his educational pursuit. Asiedu Nketiah’s assertion was not directly marching Dr Mahamudu Bawumai’s crucial timing in his education, but he enjoyed favours majority of us didn’t have.

Even if Dr Mahamudu Bawumia didn’t per se enjoyed Ghana Scholarship, his late father, Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, was privileged under J. J. Rawlings watch to facilitate his son’s education and that is more than a scholarship. This is a guy whose father switched carpet from NPP (Northern People’s Party) to join CPP for various ministerial positions. His father joined Dr Limann’s PNP and when PNP came to power he had a lucrative job of Chairman of Ghana Cocoa Board.

A position he held till the early years of PNDC regime. Also because of his Islamic faith, he was a diplomat, especial to Saudi Arabia and it was during Dr Mamuda Bawumia’s crucial education pursuit that his father was made Ambassador and indeed in (P)NDC regime. A critical scrutiny at Dr Mamudu Bawumia’s education was indeed during J. J. Rawlings when J.J. Rawlings favoured his father and even became Chairman of Council of State Elders. Below is how Dr Mahamudu Bawumia received his support directly or indirectly from (P)NDC

This brings to the table if he is that clever as he claims to be now. Nevertheless, I am not try to denigrate someone with a doctorate degree, but I believe what one has done another person can also do, if both are given the same opportunity and resources. Therefore he should stop his bragging as if he has the final word.
