Democrat Win Will Not Assure Of NDC Win-Dr Etse

A communication consultant Dr. Etse Sikanku has discounted claims that victory for the Democrats in the US elections will be automatic win for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), come December 7th.

According to the Communication Consultant cum Lecturer, there is no enough scientific bases to come to such a conclusion since the dynamics between the two countries are for voting are not the same.

President John Dramani Mahama while on campaign tour of the Upper East Region in the run up to the 2012 elections was reported to have observed that President Barrack Obama’s victory in the United States would be replicated for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December polls in Ghana. Adding that in 2008 polls in the USA, Obama won by chasing the elephant into the bush and later the NDC also chased the elephant into the bush in Ghana, maintaining that since Obama again chased the elephant into the bush, same would be replicated in Ghana in December.

However the same conversation seems to resurface among some members of the ruling NDC arguing that a win for Democratic Candidate Hilary Clinton on Tuesday will signify victory for the NDC and President John Dramani Mahama in December. But Dr Etse Sikanku believes that the scenario in the past was mere coincidences and does not necessarily mean the outcome of this year’s election in US will replay in Ghana.

“I don’t think the electoral systems between the two nations are the same, the dynamics are different and there are not enough bases to make such predictions. I know people will generally want to use a win for either of the candidates in their advantage since they are related in terms of political affiliation, but I doubt if that has any fact backing it”

On the US elections as a whole, Dr Etse Sikanku said the contest between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump will be a close one. “Initially, all the polls in favor of Hilary showed a wider gap but with the emergence of the email saga, there is now a decline in her percentage. That could be a back breaker but it will be a close call”

He noted that Donald’s policies appear to be stringent and appealing to the business community and may not have favors from those that will be affected. “I mean for him to say Africans like sex, eat too much food, et al, clearly show his position on the Africans. There are also issues of him making some pronouncements on illegal immigrants and many other statements and those can have a negative effect on him”
