The Chief of Staff “reckless” comments over the Kalyppo craze will not stop the increased patronization of the local fruit drink, Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Perry Okudzeto has said.

He insists the frenzy about the Kalyppo twist confirms the wind of Change that is apparent come December 7, 2016.

“We are disappointed that a whole Chief of Staff, should make that reckless comments and should apologize to the local producers. Is the Chief of Staff a medical officer or nutritionist? This will not stop people from patronizing the drink.” Okudzeto fumed on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM.

The Chief of Staff who is on a campaign trail in the Brong Ahafo region is reported to have ridiculed the NPP’s Kalyppo craze advising adults to stay away from sweet drinks meant for children.

Speaking to supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the region, Mr. Debrah said: “I am pleading with you that you adults here if you take Kalyppo, the sugar content can leave you with some sickness so please don’t take it”

The Chief of Staff has since been flaked for his remarks on the local fruit juice as some Civil Society Organizations have called to question the basis of the Senior government official and have threatened to sue Mr. Julius Debrah.

Commenting on the development, Mr Perry Okudzeto said it is regrettable that government officials are politicizing the Kalyppo twist to downplay the business of a local producer.

According to him, after hitting the business environment with power challenges for the past four years, the government should rather be sorry for local businesses and be mindful of what will further kill their initiatives in the Ghanaian economy.

He has justified his view partly on the belief that they[Kalyppo Producers] pay tax to government that is providing numerous opportunities for government to undertake development initiatives, and hence must be protected.
