Social and Political historian, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST), Dr. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, has advised President Akufo-Addo to maintain the pay bill and perks of Ministers working under his government, so as not to give room for corruption in his administration.

According to the Political Scientist, irrespective of the large size of Akufo-Addo government, there should not be any attempt by the President to cut the benefits and salaries of these Ministers, as such move will open the floodgate of corruption.

President Akufo-Addo will in the coming days announce a list of almost 50 individuals to serve as deputy ministers in his government.

The addition will make the Akufo-Addo government the biggest, in terms of size, since the 4th republic.

So far, 46 ministers have been vetted and sworn into office.

Speaking on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Tuesday, Dr. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi said President Akufo-Addo must guard against creating any atmosphere of sacrifice on the back of the large size of his government.

“Don’t form large government and also create a disincentive for government functionaries and Ministers,” he cautioned, adding that “If you appoint someone to an executive position, you should make sure that whatever he/she deserves he’ll get it.”
