Joseph Osei Yeboah was questioning the credibility of the voters’ register saying those who don’t come to get verified can be assumed to be unqualified voters as they could be deceased, foreigners and minors.

The credibility of the voters’ register has always been a controversial subject with different parties and individuals making various claims about how it is not clean enough to be used for the December 7 election.

The vice-presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had said in August 2015 that the register is bloated as the Party had evidence that close to 80,000 Togolese had registered to partake in Ghanaian elections.

The NPP presented their said evidence to the Commission and demanded that a new register is created. But they were ignored.

In the latest move, albeit on a different subject, Mr Osei Yeboah who was one of the four presidential aspirants to scale the Commissions’ rigorous test to contest in the upcoming elections says he respects the verdict of the court.

The Court has set Tuesday, November 1 to give its reasons which Mr Yeboah told Joy News he is waiting for to read.

“The court is being cautious and I do agree with the court looking at the sensitivity around the case, but I am sure posterity will give the true verdict,” he said immediately after court gave its judgment Monday.

He said it is for the good of all Ghanaians to move forward after the court has given its verdict.

According to him, the biometric voter register does not have a way of deleting the dead as it has no way of checking if a voter is not alive.

Mr Yeboah who said he has expertise in the field of biometric systems revealed that he made suggestions to the Commission on how to go about cleaning the register.

He said the EC during the voter exhibition started working on some of the suggestions he had made to clean the register.
