Flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party, (GFP) Akua Donkor has advised Ghanaian actor, Alex Kofi Adu popularly known as Agya Koo not bank his hopes on his endorsement for victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming polls.

According to Akua Donkor, Agya Koo is a comedian whose aim is to entertain Ghanaians and not to engage in party politics.

“If Agya Koo says he is endorsing Nana Addo and has decided to be part of the losing party, he should go ahead but I must tell him that his endorsement will never make Nana Addo the President of Ghana.

“If he thinks he can use his comedy to win votes for Nana Addo then he should stop because Nana Addo won’t win in the elections and will never win in any elections. He should continue entertaining us because that is what he is good at” she asserted.

Days after Agya Koo openly declared his support for the Presidential Candidate for the NPP Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he has come under heavy castigation by a section of the public.

Asante Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi has been accused of spearheading the endorsement of the NPP’s Flagbearer by the award-winning actor.

The veteran actor together with his colleague actors like Matilda Asare and others recently launched “AGYA KOO AGENDA 57% FOR NANA ADDO” to support the campaign of the NPP in order to help bring the much needed change.

However, Madam Akua Donkor in an interview appealed to the actor to concentrate on his movie career since his recent decision to join the NPP will only make him unpopular.

She believes engaging celebrities and journalists in politics is a waste of time and will not allow such persons in her party.

Akua Donkor revealed, that a journalist who she refused to mention name once approached to join her party but she turned that journalist down because she sees media men as a hindrances.

“If a political party continues engaging celebrities and journalists in their parties then that political party can never move forward because I believe a person should be allowed to do what he or she does best”.

She continued “I remember I once rejected a journalist who approached to join me in my party. With or without those people, I can still work and my party will move forward” she insisted.

Akua Donkor said if elected, she will use her manifesto and the 1992 Constitution in drafting policies for the country.

Meanwhile, the presidential hopeful joined eight other presidential hopefuls to submit her nomination forms at the office of the Electoral Commission Thursday.

Akua Donkor is one of two female presidential aspirants in the 2016 elections.

Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings of the National Democratic Party (NDP) is the other female aspirant.
