Change Your Voting Pattern In 2016 Election – Akufo-Addo

The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appealed to residents of Obom/Domeabra, in the Greater Accra region, to change their voting pattern and vote for the NPP in this year’s elections.

With a deplorable road network, lack of potable drinking water, no access to electricity in most of the villages, high levels of youth unemployment, and no senior high school in the constituency, Nana Akufo-Addo noted that the constituency’s association with the NDC over the years had clearly yielded little reward since 1992.

He, thus, appealed to the people of Obom/Domeabra to add their voices to the ‘chorus for change’ ringing across the country, so Ghana can be returned onto the path of progress and prosperity.

“I am here to appeal to you. I know Obom/Domeabra, over the years, has not been voting for the NPP. We have never won Obom/Domeabra. We need change this year. I am appealing to you to come and ride on the back of the Elephant and help push the NPP into Jubilee House,” the NPP flagbearer said.

Nana Akufo-Addo made this known when he campaigned in the Obom/Domeabra constituency, on the 2nd day of his 4-day tour of the Greater Accra region.

The NPP flagbearer, speaking in Ga, indicated that “Ghana is not a poor country. We are a rich nation. We have been blessed by God, and have a country that is endowed with mineral resources. Yet, our people are hungry. This is because we don’t have a good government.”

Touting the developmental credentials of the NPP during its tenure of office, from 2001 to 2009, the NPP flagbearer noted that “everyone in Ghana has come to the acceptance that, with little resources, President Kufuor was able to implement the National Health Insurance Scheme, School Feeding Programme, Metro Mass Transit, Capitation Grant, amongst others.”

This, according to Nana Akufo-Addo, “was possible because of prudent economic management by the Kufuor government. There is nothing concrete and socially advantageous in Ghana today which is not the work of the NPP.”

With particular reference to the development undertaken by the NPP in the Obom/Domeabra constituency, the NPP flagbearer noted that “connecting Obom/Domeabra to the electricity grid was undertaken by the Kufuor government, when Prof. Mike Oquaye, who is here with me today, was the Minister for Energy.”

Again, “we laid the pipe connections for potable water to as far as Denkyira, and which was to have been extended to Obom/Domeabra. However, we lost power in 2008, and for 8 years the Mahama government has abandoned the project. When I win, God-willing, I will complete this project so you can get access to potable drinking water.”

Responding to the request for the construction of a senior high school in the constituency, Nana Akufo-Addo assured that “your request for the construction of a secondary school in the constituency will be done, if you give me the opportunity to serve this country. Again, my Free SHS policy will be effectively implemented so every child in Ghana and in Obom/Domeabra can get access to quality education.”

To the Chiefs and people of the constituency, Nana Akufo-Addo reiterated his commitment towards the establishment of the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP), which will see every constituency in Ghana receive the equivalent of $1 million a year during the tenure of his administration.

“Issues of sanitation, access to potable water, construction of educational facilities, amongst others, will no longer be a source of worry to you in Obom/Domeabra. You will directly receive the equivalent of $1 million per year to tackle issues of prime concern to you,” Nana Akufo-Addo stressed.

With the creation of jobs being his No.1 priority, the NPP flagbearer assured the Chiefs and people of Obom/Domeabra that his ‘1-District-1-Factory’ will help create the thousands of jobs required by the teeming masses of unemployed Ghanaian youth in the country.

“There is no reason why we cannot establish a pineapple processing factory here in Obom/Domeabra to help create jobs for the youth in the constituency. When you vote for me in this year’s election, such a factory will be established here in Obom/Domeabra,” he assured.

Nana Akufo-Addo, in concluding, urged the residents to vote massively for the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Baba Mohammed.
