CDD Survey An ‘unjustifiable Indictment’ On Us – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said the Centre for Democratic Development’s (CDD) survey indicating that 7 in 10 Ghanaians are largely disillusioned with government is an unjustifiable indictment on the party.

A summary from the survey indicated that, majority of Ghanaians believe the country is heading in the wrong direction and nearly half blame this ‘completely’ or ‘mostly’ on the government because of its perceived poor performance across a range of macroeconomic indicators including narrowing income gaps, prices of goods, job creation, improving living standards and the management of the economy.

Speaking on Citi FM’s News Analysis Programme, The Big Issue, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Inusah Fuseini, said the report is biased since it failed to also touch on various developmental projects the Mahama-led administration had initiated, and only focused on the negatives.

“This is an unjustifiable report on the NDC. It is biased. We believe that the NDC has made tremendous impact on the people of this country in relation to health, education, power generation. There is evidence to show that,” he said.

Casley Hayford on the same platform however disagreed with Inusah Fuseini, insisting the report is a true reflection of the state of the country [Ghana].

He therefore asked the NDC to accept recommendations given in the survey in good faith, rather than resorting to what he calls “political infighting” over the survey.

“If they like this and they want to make progress with it to be able to see how they can counter or improve the service then of course they take it. In my opinion, the report is a proper reflection of the state of our country today. The report is not favourable to the NDC and there are lessons to be learnt from that irrespective of what you say. The NDC has to accept that this report that is an indictment on their performance,” Casley Hayford said.

Disregard NPP-inspired CDD survey – Anyidoho

His comments come barely a day after the party’s deputy General Secretary urged Ghanaians to dismiss the report as an attempt to divert attention from the apparent voter verification controversy the running mate of the NPP, Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia is embroiled in.

“This CDD report is very digressional. It is all an attempt to move attention away from theheavy shame and ignominy that has robed Dr. Bawumia, robed the NPP flagbearer and the NPP,” he said.
