The former President who was reacting to recent cases of upheavals within the rank and file of the party following their massive defeat in the 2016 polls called on the aggrieved supporters to stop pointing accusing fingers at one another.

“The NDC will bounce back!!! Cause of our loss is multifaceted. We need calm nerves & hard work to strengthen the base of party…,” he posted on his Twitter handle.

Supporters of the NDC have been fighting the leadership of the party for contributing significantly to the poor performance of the party which was in power for eight years.

Some aggrieved supporters of the party clashed with the Prof Botchway committee which was set up to investigate the cause of the defeat of the party in the 2016 elections.

The supporters in the Eastern Region who could not control their anger threw plastic chairs and tables in the hall as part of the protest.

Others also sworn by their lives to ensure that they will deal severely with the leadership of the party in the region for contributing significantly to the massive defeat of the party in the 2016 elections.

“We are tired of them, they want us to go and stay home for four years and wait for them? That would not happen, wallahi talahi,” an angry supporter said.

The angry supporters have also accused the leadership of the party of using monies given them to run the campaign to buy vehicles which are currently working for them and also putting up hostel facilities.

The Daily Post Newspaper on Friday reported that the former President who could only manage 44.4% of valid vote cast in the 2016 elections was set to come out with names of persons who were given money but failed to work to retain the party in power.

However, before he could possibly come out with the names, the former President has appealed for calm within the party.

The appeal, President Mahama said is as a result of the belief that the “The NDC will bounce back!!”
