Radio Presenter, Nana Kojo Yirenkyi popularly referred to as Captain Smart on Wednesday morning took on officials of COCOBOD on his popular show, FABEWOSO for acts of corruption and negligence.
According to Captain Smart, the rot and sheer negligence of officials of the company responsible for the production and sale of Cocoa in Ghana is one that ought to trigger an investigation into the dealings of the company. He cites several incidents of negligence by officials of the company that has led to a dip in the production of cocoa despite the huge amount of money these officers are given as benefits and emoluments.
COCOBOD has been in the news recently following the dismissal and subsequent freeze of assets of the former CEO of the company, Dr. Stephen Opuni. Following that, the incoming CEO in a radio interview disclosed that Dr. Opuni had been on a GHC 75,000 monthly salary among other benefits. The revelation stirred emotions as many questioned whether the work of the former COCOBOD CEO deserved such an amount of money.
