Odeefo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, Paramount Chief of Breman Asikuma Traditional Area, has advised Ghanaians not to take the peace and stability the country is enjoying for granted.

He called also for a high sense of nationalism and the spirit of oneness as the country approached the December 7 general elections.

Odeefo Buadu gave the advice while addressing his Divisional and other Sub-Chiefs as well as heads of families who joined him at his palace to celebrate the “Adae Kesse” festival, which, was part of activities paving the way for the celebration of this year’s Odwira festival of the chiefs and people.

The Odwira festival, on the theme: ‘Promoting citizens responsibility for Bremanman’s development,’ will be climaxed with a durbar tomorrow, November 19.

Odeefo Buadu said peace was essential in the daily lives of all human beings, and it would be unfortunate for politicians or groups of people to unduly take advantage of the coming elections to cause mayhem in the country.

He appealed to the chiefs and the various family heads to sensitise their communities and family members to the need for peace, to prevent them from indulging in any acts that could disturb the peace of the area and the country as a whole, before, during and after the elections.

Touching on the festival, the Omanhene said it was designed by the ancestors to bring them together to combine their ideas and suggestions that would help promote the development of the traditional area, and not to disintegrate the people.

He, therefore, urged the current generation to learn from what their ancestors bequeathed to them for the rapid and effective development of the area.
