The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Bole District, James Jaaga has given clarity and further exposes the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama Henry Kwabena Kokofu on his claims that, the residents of the Bole District are “living in abject poverty”

He claims the District which is President John Dramani Mahama’s hometown is the 7th poorest in Ghana but the DCE who concurs a contrary view by Mr Saaka Adams, the Director of Operations, Monitoring, Evaluation and Technical Support Service (METSS) discredited the claims.

He pointed out that, the residents of Bole and its surrounding communities have access to portable water stating that he commissioned the Bole and Tinga small town water systems with funding from the World Bank.

“This project has added 25,000 gallons of water to the 8,000 gallons to Bole Township alone. This makes the total gallons of water produced a day for consumption is 33000 gallons. Aside from these water systems in place, the Mahama led administration has drilled 738 boreholes adding to the 216 functional boreholes. This has increased the functional boreholes in the District to 954 with only 34 non-functional. It is quite clear from these emerging cases that, such claims especially in respect of President Mahama’s hometown, the Northern Region and Northern Ghana at large are expected”, he said.

According to him, these areas will surely be used by the desperate opposition as their benchmark in engaging in their naked propaganda.

“Not too long ago, the former spokes person for Nana Addo Danquah Akkufo Addo, Mr. Abu Jinapor made a statement on an Accra-based television station that Bole has no KVIP. He made this statement without haste. This again was such a naked statement to say the least. For the records, Bole township has 12 KVIPs which are serving as a temporary measure to the ongoing government sanitation policy of household latrines for each household. So the above claims by Samuel Abu Jinapor which he’s known for, can’t be true and should be disregarded”, he urged

He said Bole District has not been left out when it comes to development projects stating that in every sector, the District has had its fair share of the national cake under President John Dramani.

“I will encourage Mr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu (MP) for Bantama to personally visit the Bole District just to appreciate the level of development that has gone on in these past years under President Mahama. Renewing the mandate of President Mahama for his second term bid is going to be determined by the people on the ground who have the first feel of these developments across sectors and not some selected elites who take pleasure in throwing out figures and political gimmicks just to score cheap political points as done by both Samuel Jinapor and Hon Kokofu”, he averred.
