Mr Antwi Bosiako Brobbey, the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, gave the warning when the Assembly organised a social public expenditure and financial accountability meeting to interact with the people.

Some of the issues discussed were low participation in sanitation exercise, criminal activities, training for drivers, checks on illegal mining and the bad nature of roads in the municipality.

Mr Brobbery urged the traders to participate in the sanitation exercise to make their environment clean to attract buyers and ward off diseases.

At the open forum, the drivers called on the Ghana Police Service and the Assembly to organise refresher training courses for them to improve their services on the road.

Speaking on crimes in the municipality, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Ntoso, the Akim Oda District Police Commander said his outfit was playing its part to curb such activities in the area called for the support of the public and organisations.

He said the Police administration was ready to train persons to become neighbourhood watchdog committee members in the communities to support the Police in its security operations.

DSP Ntoso urged community members who were interested in the security training to register with their assemblymen for onward submission of their names to the Police.

On illegal mining in the area, especially around the Birim River, he said there was the need to establish anti-galamsey taskforce to provide security to ward-off persons who undertake such activities.

The assembly assured the public that measures were being put in place to make the Oda Nkwanta to Ayirebi road motorable.
